My work is driven by rhythm, energy and improvisation. I paint on several canvases simultaneously, moving from one to the other, turning them over, completing them, searching for a point of balance over time.
I consider painting, especially abstraction, as the most immediate way to express my internal tensions and the emotions that run through me on a daily basis, which I project onto the canvas by mixing both energy and restraint. Taking all risks, looking for something new, unexpected when everything is about to change is what underlies my work and enriches it. Each painting is an experiment, nothing is decided in advance and I have no idea what will happen. I don't make any study beforehand and to finalize a work according to a predetermined plan is not part of my approach. I privilege above all the experience, the immersion in the work and my intuition. Sometimes I integrate words that are not always related to each other but that reinforce the composition.
Thus, I found in abstraction the freedom I was looking for, the freedom to be one with the painting and to create my own formal and chromatic universe.
Technically, I paint in a jerky manner under the influence of impulsion, which initially guides the orientation of my compositions. I start with light stains thrown on the canvas then come to be added sharp lines to the lead and touches of color are scattered here and there. Thus, one action leads to another, creating a permanent back and forth punctuated by pauses and rapid interventions.
Mon travail est conduit par le rythme, l’énergie et l’improvisation. Je peins sur plusieurs toiles simultanément, passant de l’une à l’autre, les retournant, les complétant, cherchant au fil du temps un point d’équilibre.
Je considère la peinture, notamment l’abstraction, comme le moyen le plus immédiat pour exprimer mes tensions internes et les émotions qui me traversent au quotidien que je projette sur la toile en mêlant à la fois énergie et retenue. Prendre tous les risques, chercher quelque chose de nouveau, d’inattendu quand tout est sur le point de basculer c’est ce qui sous-tend mon travail et l’enrichit. Chaque peinture est une expérience, rien n’est décidé à l’avance et je n’ai aucune idée de ce qui va se produire. Je ne réalise pas d’étude en amont et finaliser une œuvre selon un plan prédéterminé ne s’inscrit pas dans ma démarche. Je privilégie avant tout l’expérience, l’immersion dans le travail et mon intuition. Parfois j’intègre des mots qui n’ont pas toujours de lien entre eux mais viennent renforcer la composition.
Ainsi, j’ai trouvé dans l’abstraction la liberté que je recherchais, celle de pouvoir faire corps avec la peinture et créer mon propre univers formel et chromatique.
Techniquement, je peins de manière saccadée sous le coup de l’impulsion, c’est elle qui guide dans un premier temps l’orientation de mes compositions. Je commence avec des tâches légères jetées sur la toile puis viennent s’ajouter des lignes vives à la mine de plomb et des touches de couleur sont dispersées ça et là. Ainsi, une action en entraîne une autre créant un va et vient permanent ponctué de pauses et d’intervention rapides.
